About Laura Vida
Laura has been tattooing in San Francisco since 1988. In 1997 she opened Pacific Tattoo, which she sold in 2001 in order to spend more time with her family. She continues to do other types of artwork as sleep deprivation allows. News features on Laura's work with repigmentation have appeared on KPIX in San Francisco and KOVR in Sacramento. Photos of Laura's work can be seen in Tattootime: Art from the Heart, The New Tattoo, Forever Yes and Bodies of Subversion: A Secret History of Women and Tattoos (see the Tattoo Bookstore for more information). Her tattoo-related artwork has been shown at the Braunstein-Quay Gallery in San Francisco and was included in the internationally traveling exhibition "Pierced Hearts and True Love, a Century of Drawing for Tattoos," produced by the Drawing Center in New York and also shown at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. Her article on nipple/areola repigmentation was published in 1996 in the Newsletter of the San Francisco Bay Area Oncology Nursing Society. She has been a lecturer at the Society of Permanent Cosmetics annual conventions on the subject of tattoo machines.
